I asked my fifteen year old what I should write about and one of the first things she said was “dreams”. Then she clarified- dreams that people have in their life, not night time dreams. Ok, so how exactly do dreams empower us?
There are those that will allow themselves to daydream for a short time but dismiss it after that. Then there are the life long dreams that call us to action. These kinds cause us to look for ways, people, and resources. These are the kind that burn in our hearts, our being. The kind that we must pursue or we’ll just die if we don’t. It was my dream of being financially free, owning my own home, being able to pay cash not credit for things that led me to this website business. I was looking for avenues to create, and then I received the phone call leading me to this.
Sometimes our dreams take us down different paths that are unexpected. Never the less, life is a journey and new things are good for us. Don’t let anyone take your dreams. My daughter dreams of riding horses, being a make-up and hair stylist, being a waitress, getting a degree-maybe forensics. My family discourages some things and I tell her not to pay attention. These are her dreams, they can have their own!
Dreams empower us because they cause us to step out of our comfort zone. To take risks and chances, to allow us to contrast what feels right and what feels not so right for us. We become so much better for pursuing our dreams. I encourage you to write your dreams on paper and think about them fifteen minutes a day, then watch what happens next. You will be excitingly surprised!
