Self Improvement and MotivationSelf improvement and motivation are the basis of a healthy, empowered lifestyle. While individual definitions of self improvement are diverse, people should make every attempt to improve their status in life and the status of others to live life as best possible. Self improvement and motivation are linked together. Motivation can be difficult to obtain. While you may obtain motivation from friends, family, or other sources, the best motivation is that which comes from within. Motivate yourself because you truly wish to do something rather than relying on the sentiment and motivation of others. Their motivation can be fleeting, but personal determination lasts as long as you allow it to. How does one obtain personal motivation? You may need to meditate to find the personal strength and motivation to do something. You may need to use a systematic structure, like SMART goals, to organize your goals and stay motivated. Reward yourself for your efforts, as rewards are a good way of reinforcing certain behavior. Once you have the proper motivation, self improvement can take many forms. It can be as simple as getting out of the house more to do fun activities, like watching movies at the movie theater, playing sports, or going to a concert. While these activities might seem pretty normal to some people, workaholics and parents with children are just a few examples of people who might need to get motivated to have more fun in their lives. Self improvement may take the form of getting a promotion at work, or going back to school to get a new degree (or just to be more educated). Start with small, easy to obtain goals, and eventually you may realize that you have improved yourself on a much larger scale than you could have imagined. Self improvement and motivation can enrich all aspects of a person's life, and possibly even enhance the lives of those around him or her. |
